Recovery Update

May 20, 2022 2:06 pm by David Schmeltzle
Thank you for the feedback and email replies. I appreciate your questions as they help me understand how to better communicate what I am trying to share. Thanks, Rebecca, for your comments and feedback. It’s always been helpful.

Sometimes my technical background drives tech-speak which becomes confusing. Or I containerize things I want to do in my brain with filing-drawer-like-long-names such as the “WordPress Website Recovery Guide”.

I want to clarify a few things I wrote last night to you.

You will NOT have to do anything as part of the recovery plan.

Once our “servers” are back online we will redirect your website traffic going to the landing page system back to your website.

The recovery guide that I planned on creating for you was intended to be a guide on how to communicate to your customers what happened. To provide an example of what I meant, I’m including the message below that you can modify and use with your email marketing to share what happened with your followers.

My website service provider BizBudding develops and hosts websites for hundreds of bloggers, businesses, and creators. Part of BizBudding’s infrastructure uses a cloud service provider called 365 Data Centers. Last week, 365 Data Centers experienced a cyber security incident (they are not yet sharing details as to the nature of this incident) that affected all of their northeast data centers. This unprecedented outage affected both our primary and backup systems. Thousands of websites went offline as a result — including 365 Data Center’s own website (which is also hosted by BizBudding).
Third-party cyber experts, brought in by 365 Data Centers, have confirmed that no customer data has been accessed and have repeatedly provided assurance that my website data is intact, protected, secure, and encrypted.

BizBudding is diligently working through a plan for my website to be back online soon. Thanks for hanging in there with me.

I hope that the recovery guide becomes a useful collection of ideas and actions that help you explain what happened and grow your business.  I intend to ask some of the blogging pros in this community for help and to share some of their expert tips with all of us. The message above was a collaboration with The Paleo Mom and me.

While I don’t have an exact date for the recovery plan or relaunch yet — I do know from conversations with 365 that I should have it soon.

As always, thanks for your feedback and replies.
